Intensive Outpatient

Insight Treatment’s Intensive Outpatient Program has locations in Sherman Oaks and Pasadena, offering help for adolescents 13-18 years of age who may be struggling with substance abuse, alcohol abuse, depression, social issues, family issues, behavioral problems, and/or self-harming behaviors.

Insight’s intensive outpatient program treats teens while they remain in school and are living at home. This model has been found to be highly effective because it allows teens to work through family issues, establish supportive, drug-free peer groups, and learn to use new skills at home and in the community while they are in a highly structured treatment program. Problems are addressed in real time, helping the entire family interact in ways that will support healthy growth and long-term change.

Using a multi-modality approach, this program offers the structure and safety needed as an alternative to residential adolescent drug rehabilitation treatment, or as a step down from residential treatment. Our therapeutic process is designed to empower teens through a process of personal growth and insight while developing the skills necessary to successfully navigate through adolescent years.

Additionally, we simultaneously offer help to empower parents through parent education, family counseling, and multiple family groups. This multi-tiered approach has proven to be the most effective in achieving positive outcomes for long-term growth and success.

The Intensive Outpatient Program usually starts at 4 days a week, and includes structured plans for weekends, with counselors available on call by phone.  Teens attend daily groups covering drug and alcohol education, goals, trauma, life skills, meditation and guided imagery, and relapse prevention. Process groups, gender specific groups, and multi-family groups are also offered in treatment, and regular attendance of 12 step meetings are incorporated into treatment plans. Individual and family sessions, as well as coaching and case management sessions are conducted at a minimum of once per week. Teens move through program phases as they reach therapeutic and behavioral goals, decreasing the number of days of attendance per week as they move through each phase.
